We don’t get fooled again?

Still reeling from financial devastation resultant of nationwide investment in things they cannot afford, the people of the United States have demonstrated their new found wisdom by investing in something they cannot afford: Barack Obama.

The consumer-nation will soon be experiencing buyer’s remorse on an epidemic scale as they have been sold a bill of goods historians cannot fathom and marketing execs are salivating over.

“November 4, 2008, will go down in history as the biggest day ever in the history of marketing” writes Al Ries for AdAge.com in his article, “What Marketers Can Learn form Obama’s Campaign. Change -- and Positioning -- You Can Believe in”

“Take a relatively unknown man. Younger than all of his opponents. Black. With a bad-sounding name. Consider his first opponent: the best-known woman in America, connected to one of the most successful politicians in history. Then consider his second opponent: a well-known war hero with a long, distinguished record as a U.S. senator.

It didn't matter. Barack Obama had a better marketing strategy than either of them. ‘Change.’"

Mr. Ries' goes on to provide a marketing analysis of the genius of the Obama campaign, selling re-packaged leftist feel good inanities to consumers who are allegedly among the most savvy in the world.

Evidently not.

Enjoy the party America. It’s going to be one hell of a hangover, for the entire world.

Cheers,

Charlie

Way to show some class. Buyer's remorse was 8 years of Bush. How's this for a prediction: You will come to find out that you were on the wrong side of history, bird. This man will be considered one of the greats. It will make you bitter. You will molt. That is unless you can see past that gnarled beak on your face and give him a chance.

Please do. There's nothing worse than a featherless old bird unless he's being served for dinner.

My Dear Anonymous,

Yes and we have all certainly learned a great deal about class from President Bush's "loyal opposition" have we not?

For America's sake, we hope your prediction is correct (not so much about the bitterness and molting part.)

We have no choice but to give Mr. Obama a chance and have every intention of doing so. However, where and when we believe him to be wrong or lacking, we just might feel the need to point that out.

In this post for instance, you may note that our criticism is not so much of Mr. Obama, but of the American electorate for not doing due diligence in its selection of candidate and - now - president.

Can you or anyone explain to us what Mr. Obama has accomplished in his life and career that warrants his ascent? Can you explain to us why his openly socialist declarations and dangerous associations did not disqualify him as a proper candidate for leader of the world's economic engine and most powerful military? These are not classless attacks. These are legitimate questions. Questions the American people evidently did not feel the need to have answered.

Why? They did not care.

It is our assertion they will regret this, as will we all.

We are perfectly willing to accept that we may be proven wrong. History - as always - shall be our guide.

Pray tell, what will yours be?

Cheers,

Charlie

Peace on earth and a fat wallet

Hey CP. Perhaps Bush needs Obama to complete what he started. Ya know -- In the bigger scheme of things. Maybe George Bush's place in history will be secured because of Obama's place in history.

Meaning...

Maybe it will take a diplomat like Obama to end the war and restore calm. Just as It took someone like W to start it and rid the world of Sadaam. Perhaps History will judge them both kindly.

Obama completes George and vicey versey

We can hope.

Churchill's Parrot said...

My Dear Anonymous,

And these ends justify any means? The “peace” of surrender? A wallet made fat with other men’s money? That’s change you can believe in, perhaps. Not us.

My Dear G Nads,

So long as Mr.Obama appreciates the gravity of the threats we face and the realities that necessitated Bushies taking the actions he did ... you may be onto something. This would be good not only for Bushie and Obama, but America and the entire planet.

It is the extent to which the "Bush Lied People Died" narrative has been bought and sold that concerns us. Acting on that childish mantra would undo much and place the United States and her allies in a very vulnerable postion.

We must hope that the weight and reality of the Office of the Presidency might bring Mr. Obama to his full potential, and have him performing in a manner such as you suggest.

Cheers,

Charlie

Anonymous, I know you think Bush was responsible for our financial crisis because he was in the White House. But don't forget there's been a majority of Democrats in Congress, some being the ones who encouraged mortgage companies to give loans to people who couldn't afford to pay those loans back. Hense, the mortgage crisis. But I'm sure that was all part of "spreading the wealth around". The American dream is something we have a right to WORK for. Doesn't mean it's guaranteed. I worked my ass off for what I have and I'm not about give handouts to people who think I owe them a living. Is that the fat wallet you're referring to? If so, no wonder you wanted Obama. That's what Obama's policy will make me do because he and Biden keep coming further down on the income bracket of what they consider middle class. They can't make up their minds. First it was under $250,000. Then Biden lowered that number to $100,000. Eventually, they're liable to tell us that a family earning $75,000 a year is wealthy and tax them to death. That's where my husband and I fall. We're living paycheck to paycheck. Our mortgage payment eats up most of our money and it's not like we live in a mansion for crying out loud. Just an average home. The cost of living is insane. We used to live in a two room half basement. But we worked hard and saved money to get where we are. We didn't take handouts nor should we give any handouts. I will, however, with a cheerful heart, help those who help themselves.

handouts???!!!!!
who wants handouts???!!!
Who said anything about handouts???!!!

Are you suggesting that conservative/republicans are the only ones who work hard for a living!? Gimme a break Denise/Parrot. Their is no such thing as a free ride. The election is over. Stop with the talking points. We're all in this together. We all want success. We all want our own money in our pockets. Quit being ridiculous. It's called taxes and as far as I can tell we've had them in one form or another for the last two hundred years.

When you make these accusations they suggest that u think libs/dems are lazy. I guarantee you every dem that I know works his or her butt off.

As you know Biden's 150 was a slip - he acknowledged that. And Obama said that he would give anyone earning under 200g's a tax break and anyone earning from 200g's to 250g's no more increase in taxes.

So you are good. No one is going to take your money and give it to someone else who makes the same amount as you!!! that would be crazy!!!

Anonymous said...

Anonymous, I'm not suggesting that only conservatives work hard for a living. I believe there are a lot of hard working democrats who didn't pay attention to Obama's words when he talked about spreading the wealth around. But there are people who are lazy and expect handouts. There are people like this in my community and I'm sure many other places around the country as well. These are the people Obama will spread our hard earnings to. One example, single women not working who have children from 5 or more different fathers getting welfare when they conveniently fail to tell social workers they have a live in boyfriend earning an income. They won't marry the boyfriend because they know those benefits will be gone. So our tax money goes to these women cheating the system. I've personally heard these women brag about it. They are just one example. This is what I mean by handouts. These same type of people complain about others having nice things and wonder why they don't. Everyone I know who is like that is a democrat. Many of those people are the ones singing praises to Obama.

Anonymous said...

Oops, I should have said "single women who ARE working". I have worked with these women. They were earning as much as me while getting money from the government (my tax money)and a live in boyfriend's money, too.

Many people work hard. Even liberals. Many are fabulously wealthy as a result: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/LMC.asp .

We say, more power to them. And one way to ensure that is to let them do as they bloody well wish with their own money. If Mr. Springsteen wishes to throw a pro-Obama rally, more power to him. If Mr. Soros wants to fund several pro-Obama front groups, more power to him. It is not the place of any government, particularly the American government, to tax their hard won earnings to the point that they are not able or willing to do as they please with their own money.

Thus, my dear Anonymous, if you were not suggesting your wallet ought be made fat via handouts, you must believe that by taxing "the wealthy" as Mr. Obama promises, the American economy will be improved. It will not. These people pay 60% of the tax burden already. Beyond that, these people own the companies, make the massive purchases, make the enormous investments that move the economy for all citizens - rich, poor, and middle class. Inhibit that and you inhibit jobs, wages, and standard of living for all.

As Sir Winston said, “Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow that they can milk. Only a handful see it for what it really is - the strong horse that pulls the whole cart.”

Consider that next time Mr. Obama waxes on the glories of "taxing the rich."

Cheers,

Charlie

Okay Parrot. We agree to disagree on bottom up economics vs. trickle down. My guess is that they both have merit.

But Denise.

A woman with five babies by five different fathers!!! Taking your money and bragging about it!!! With a live in boyfriend AND she's working plus she's taking welfare!!!

Was she black too?!!!

Democrats!!

I doubt your story is true. Personally, I don't know anybody like that. I'm sure there are people on all sides of the aisle taking advantage of rules and regulations. It's a shame.

Have you ever thought about the millionaire with the aggressive accountant who consistently cheats the system out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, owed in taxes because he or she has cheated the system and voted for Bush.

What about the oil execs and the defense contractor lining their pockets with money in time of crisis. Probably Republicans.

You were sold a load of crock.
Joe the plumber was fraud.

Wake up Denise.

It's a new day.

Peace.

I have to agree with anonymous here. We can't judge our political parties by the lunatic fringe. I mean I know some pretty evil people on both sides of the aisle.

Welfare is a totally different argument than taxes.

Wasn't it a Democrat who put forward the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act?

I was referring to different women. Not just one. One women was black with 2 children, the other was white with 3 black/white children. Sorry for the confusion. Didn't mean to sound like they were all from the same woman. But they were from different fathers. Anyway, the white woman was the one bragging. The other just mentioned it. I'm sure there are millionaires who cheat the system too. But I don't know any millionaires, aren't surrounded by them therefore, I don't hear them brag about cheating or hear who they vote for. They are not around me to totally tick me off like these women have. My comments were based on what I saw with my own two eyes, heard with my own two ears.

The markets are always up when there is a Republican Congress and down when there is a Democrat Congress - I wonder why, not really....I know why.

Berg pursues court case against Obama to produce birth certificate

"At this point, Supreme Court Justice David Souter's Clerk informed Philip J. Berg, the lawyer who brought the case against Obama, that his petition for an injunction to stay the November 4th election was denied, but the Clerk also required the defendants to respond to the Writ of Certiorari (which requires the concurrence of four Justices) by December 1. At that time, Mr. Obama must present to the Court an authentic birth certificate, after which Mr. Berg will respond."

Berg isn't giving up.

Why should anyone give Obama a chance? Is he deserving of it? I can't stand a liar.

Good heavens. We turn our tail feathers for a moment and all hell breaks loose! Very well. That's what blogs are for, eh? Splendid.

My Dear Anonymous - thank you very much for posting the like ...totally awesome you tube music video. You bring the conversation back round to the theme of our original post which is: the Obama victory is vaporous juvenile feel-good nonsense. But that's what the kids are buying these days so ...

As for Joe the Plumber being a fraud. Curious. How then did the crafty Republican operatives get Mr. Obama to utter his socialist reply to this fraud's simple question?

As for Denise's observation, one need only read the paper or hang round the ER of one's local urban hospital to see legions of such cases. As for corrupt millionaires, there is no shortage on either side. Just ask Mr. James A. Johnson, Mr. Franklin D. Raines, Ms. Jamie Gorelick, Mr. Lawerence Small, Mr. J. Timothy Howard etc. etc. etc.

Cheers,

Charlie

Spread the wealth? Bah humbug! Screw the poor!
Dear Jesus, what have we become?

Churchill's Parrot said...

My Dear Anonymous,

To spread people's wealth to others without the consent of the giver is theft, not charity. This would be immoral.

No one is interested in "screwing the poor." We are interested in preserving the rights to private property upon which your nation was founded. Perhaps you were unaware of this?

Charlie

Do you know where your taxes go? Is it immoral for taxpayers money to go to a missile that misses it target and kills an innocent wedding party?
Wake up!

Churchill's Parrot said...

My Dear Anonymous,

Yes we know where American taxes go. The top five outlays in order are as follows: Social Security, National Defense, Medicare, Income Security Programs, and Medicaid. Which of those is decreed a legitimate federal expense by the Constitution? National Defense. The others consist of 20th century concoctions that are bankrupting the nation.

As for your errant missile, it is unfortunate but hardly immoral. Immorality requires evil intent. There is none of that in American efforts to stop the advance of Islamic fascism. Your inability to make that distinction is revealing and disturbing.

Had your mindset prevailed in earlier centuries there would be no America to defend. Perhaps you'd like that?

Cheers,

Charlie

The difference is that I believe that an unjust war is immoral. Iraq.

And you believe that assisting your fellow man is immoral. Spreading the wealth.

I find that most revealing and disturbing, my dear sir.

Do you proclaim yourself to be a Christian?
Jesus would be proud of your righteousness I'm sure.

Joanne said...

anonymous - your ignorance must be bliss. Saddam Hussein was a murderous tyrant who slaughtered his own people at will, and he is no more thanks to America and the coalition forces. Perhaps before you start slinging your self-righteous indignation you get a clue.

I suppose you believe tax dollars should go to killing the unborn, but you would have a problem with people wanting to keep their hard earned money to distribute as they please.

No one is against assisting their fellow man; people just want to have the choice. Tax dollars already go to welfare and social assistance for the less fortunate; there is no need to distribute wealth like it is some kind of commodity that hasn't been earned.

Anonymous said...

A murderous tyrant who is gone. Yes! and Bravo to our troops. God keep them safe. But that's not why they were sent there. We were lied to... our soldiers were lied to. How dishonorable. Think of all the defense contractors who got rich over "shock and awe" when one bullet could have done the trick. A little arsenic on the kebab. I know we can't condone assassinations until at least a few thousand people die first.

And yes we all should do whatever we can to stop abortions. We all can agree it's a horrific thing. We just have different methods, sex EDUCATION, birth control, adoption would my preferred method. If I had a magic wand abortions would cease to exist. And all the babies that were born into poverty would earn their own money w/o" your hard earned money" But that's not a reality. I'm amazed how much Bush has done to stop abortions! It's all talk.

The fact is there is no plan to take your "hard earned" money and redistribute it to the poor. Unless you make over 250 grand!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/06/09/ST2008060900950.html

Now relax and let's see if this guy can attempt to get it right and restore some class and honor back to the white house. God knows our country could use it after the last 16 years.

Churchill's Parrot said...

My Dear Anonymous,

Yes we do proclaim ourselves to be Christian. Worse - Catholic! It is a fundamental misunderstanding among the children of today that government mandated redistribution of income via taxation is somehow "christian." This is no more "christian" than obeying the speed limit. You are avoiding punishment, that is all. There is no salvation in that.

As for your "immoral and unjust war" and the "lies" which justified it, I suggest you review your United Nations history circa 1991 through 2003. For your convenience, we have compiled a rather thorough review at http://www.bloggernews.net/114555.

Your reassurances that no one need worry re: the tax bogeyman unless they make over $250 thousand/annum demonstrates your utter lack of comprehension of how capitalism works. Wealth creates wealth. Voluntary redistribution of income and wealth (via purchasing, investment, charitable giving etc.) is what primes the pump, NOT government redistribution of wealth. Tax the "rich" and you eventually kill the whole game. Who suffers the most? The poor, for they - at times by their own folly - are the most vulnerable.

Nothing has done more to eradicate poverty and human misery in human history than free-market capitalism unimpeded by excessive government regulation and taxation. Now that's a poverty program all good Christians can support!

Cheers,

Charlie
