Be still my beating heart

Madam Vice-President; hopefully the first of many such brilliant decisions of the now exceedingly more likely John McCain Presidency! Not since the appointment of Baroness Thatcher have we felt such palpitation of both heart and mind. By all indications, Lady Palin is as American Woman as an American woman can get! Good show!

Cheers,

Charlie

My Dear Loverboyd,

Crude and rather beneath the family-friendly standard we strive to maintain here at Churchill's Parrot. Still, most humerous!

What a brilliant choice! I endorsed Palin a few weeks ago, so I feel rather vindicated at this moment!

Bravo, McCain! Bravo, Palin!

Wow! That's weird you endorsed her Neoconstant! What's even weirder is that I endorsed the runner up. The Governor of Guam, the honorable Felix P. Camacho!

I've never seen the base so energized - if this race was going to be about personality, I think it's even now!

Bring it on!

abstinence only!

My Dear Anonymous,

We regret that your parents did not practice abstinence. Being - we are wont to assume - of the Left-wing persuasion, however, you would likely prefer abortion.

Cheers,

Maybe if they would have taught this young lady something about birth control she wouldn't be in this position.

And what does this say about a mother who humiliates her daughter so publicly by accepting this position? What a mom!

I commend the young lady for having this child. And seeing it through. Didn't anybody notice that she was sexually active though? Shouldn't someone have noticed. Or maybe we should assume that she is sexually active "just in case" because teenagers don't think rationally most of the time. Or perhaps you think that seventeen year olds should be having babies? Isn't that cute.

What if she was poor, raped, mentally or physically handicapped? What if her mommy wasn't the governor of Alaska. Yes, I'm sure she'll be fine. It will all work out for her. I hope it does. But c'mon...

Oh, and by the way we all hate abortion. Grow up people.

My Dear Anonymous,

Yes the legions of unwanted pregnancies that have occured since birth control and enlightened sex-ed have hit the scene provide overwhelming testimony as to the effectiveness of THOSE methods.

Simple truth: people (particularly young ones) often do stupid things, even while knowing better. It can't be argued, however, that abstinence would be the surest way of not getting pregnant. That, or becoming an ardent feminist.

As for this mother "humiliating" her child in this way, what a profoundly asinine thing to say. Mrs. Palin and her daughter are imperfect human beings, thus they dare not put themselves in the public eye? At least not as "conservatives" who regard themselves as perfect in every way, is that the standard? Good Lord that does thin the prospects a bit, eh? Best we just bow out now then. Sorry for all the trouble.

The question is - what does this say about a media so adolescent and sex-obsessed that they might laser-lock on this tawdry little detail above and beyond all else?

We are not particularly clear on your point (presuming you had one) regarding this young lady being poor, raped, disabled, NOT the daughter of the Governor etc. etc. We can only assume you mean to suggest that we would advocate her child be aborted in such cases at as we right-wing-types only care about the rich, powerful, and beautiful and the off-spring thereof? Not so. Newsflash - we too hate abortion.

As for growing up, we suggest you listen to Mr. Obama's recommendation as to how mature and reasonable people ought react to this non-issue.

Cheers,

Charlie

A non issue indeed unless of course she was a Democrat. I think you should take a look at Fox news and the Drudge Report. Two right slanted news organizations. Their reporting of this non-issue has been nonstop. The Drudge report even posted a photo of her "babydaddy" that was until a few hours ago.

And no, I was not suggesting that you'd advocate anyone having an abortion. What I was suggesting that a woman in young Palin's situation is blessed to have such a support team around her. Not everyone is that blessed to have family and friends be there for them.

Oh and by the way Governor Palin is an advocate of Birth Control for young adults.

The bigger concern is that McCain hadn't even properly vetted her. I wouldn't be surprised if more stuff comes out. Maybe if your nominee did his job properly this could of been handled better.

Time will tell if she is a good choice, but she is a good governor. That is more than many of the governors (Democratic or Republican) can say.

All parents can do is teach their children what they believe is right and hope their children grow up doing the right things. If a child is brought up right and still makes a poor decision when he or she is older, the parents aren't to blame. As Charlie said, we all make mistakes, even when we know better. We all have temptations. This young lady was tempted and couldn't control her hormones, nor could the father. This whole thing makes me think of preachers' kids. Everyone expects them to be perfect.

One more thing. At least this young lady is now doing the right thing by taking responsibility for her own actions, keeping the baby and marrying the father.

Well only time will tell Denise. Marrying the Father is whole 'nother can of worms.
