Harry Potter and the Sword of the Caliphate

In times of national peril, Sir Winston Churchill often conjured references from Great Britain’s prodigious literary heritage to stir the patriotic passions of the British people and rally them to defend their homeland and all it stood for.

Modern Britons, however, are much too cosmopolitan and enlightened to be moved by the hackneyed melodrama of Shakespeare, Dickens, and Scott. They require literary stimuli of a far more sophisticated and compelling nature. Therefore, in an effort to rouse and rally Britons to get up off their duffs and confront the national peril at present – Islamic Usurpation of all things British in Britain – allow us to reference a more contemporary jewel of Brit Lit: Harry Potter.

We are unaware of the politics of J.K. Rowling, authoress of the Harry Potter book series. Nonetheless, in the most recent Potter film based upon her book, The Order of the Phoenix, she provides a near perfect allegory for the slow suicide which Britain is currently in the process of committing. In the story, Harry, our young wizard hero, finds his beloved school of magic taken over by a corrupt government entity, The Ministry of Magic. The Ministry’s first order of business is to gut the school’s Defense against the Dark Arts program wherein it had prepared students to defend themselves against the very real evils they may well encounter in their future magical exploits. Accompanying this effort is the Ministry’s campaign to discredit and silence Harry and all others who have personally fought those very real evils and who seek to warn their contemporaries of the gathering storm. In this way the Ministry is serving to clear the path for the evil overlord of the dark forces so that he might re-enter the wizarding world at the time of his choosing and take full control with nary a peep of resistance.

That is fiction. Here is reality. British educators are dutifully removing references to Sir Winston Churchill, Adolph Hitler, and the Holocaust from their curricula. The British government seeks to eradicate terms such as "war on terror" and "Islamic extremism" and “London is a battlefield” from political discourse. And The Ministry of Justice is busily hounding those few brave souls seeking - at their own risk - to warn of the gathering storm. One such brave soul on our radar screen (and the radar screen’s of an ever-increasing many) is a young blogger named Paul Ray, otherwise known as Lionheart.

“Britain is burning, Britain is burning, and America is next,”
declared Lionheart in a recent interview on Political Vindication Radio. “My government is in fear. My people are in fear of Muslims. That’s no way for us to be living. That’s not how I’m going to live anyway. I’d rather die who I am as a person standing up for what’s right rather than bow down and be a weak pathetic little coward.” Such earnest passion is reminiscent of the melodrama mentioned earlier, and thus proves irritating to the modern sensibilities of contemporary British authorities. In fact, for statements such as these, Paul Ray – Lionheart – is to be arrested by the British government.

And yet he roars on.

“In the north of England, you had twelve year old little girls being targeted by gangs,” Lionheart explains. “You’ve got shopping centers with Muslim security guards and men spotting the little children. Then the runners who go in and ply the little children with money and cigarettes and whatever. And then you’ve got taxi drivers that take them away. And then they ply them with drugs and then they start trafficking them amongst their Muslim friends. People have known about all this for a while but the actual exposure’s only come out recently because the government wanted to keep it quiet. The police didn’t want to do anything about it for fear of ‘breaching community cohesion.’ So our young children are being forced to endure this degradation, this depravity.”

Because of cases such as these, and many others, most of which are happening in and around his hometown of Luton, England, Lionheart is – to put it mildly - very angry. His blog has been a means of venting his rage and making the public aware of the gathering storm.

“We’re not calling people to go marching in the streets killing people,” explained Lionheart. “All we’re doing is saying to people, look wake up, you know. Wake up! Telling our neighbors, telling our friends, wake up. Look at what’s surrounding us. And the internet is that battle line. That is our war front at this moment in time. Who knows when all that’s going to change?”

Well if the British Ministry of Justice has its way, it will change very soon.

“If you look at my blog, I haven’t said come on let’s kill these people. All I’ve done is written the truth. Now they’re trying to silence me.”

Now that the word is out however, across the blogosphere and across Blog Talk Radio, silencing Mr. Ray’s lion heart may prove more difficult than the Ministry had originally hoped.

Speaking on behalf of “Keyboard Warriors” the world over, Political Vindication host, Shane Borgess, assured Lionheart, “You’ve got a lot of people that are dedicated to the battle you’re fighting. It doesn’t matter that we’re on different continents my friend.” (Not surprising that our American friends are drawn to Mr. Ray’s righteous defiance.)

“People can be complacent now about what’s happening,” continued Lionheart. “But you’ve only got to look at the facts now to think ‘what’s it going to be like in twenty years or thirty years for my children, my grand children? What are they going to face if we don’t do something now?’ In America you’ve got thirty or forty years to wait. In Great Britain, it’s happening on the ground now. Our communities are being overrun.”

For now, Mr. Ray is taking refuge in America; perhaps the first of many Britons soon to do so. When a caller during the program posited the question, “Where do you think the final stand is going to be,” host Borgess proudly chimed in, “It’ll be America again, baby!”

At this juncture, it appears that will quite likely be the case. But what of Britain? Has she truly abdicated her sovereignty to the European Union, her soul to Islam, and her defense to the United States? For what reason? Fear? Apathy? Cultural self-hatred? Wither the isle of Blackstone, of Burke, of Churchill who, when staring into the maw of Nazi dominion spat:

“Nations which went down fighting, rose again. But those who surrendered tamely, were finished. If this long island story of ours is to end at last, let it end only when each one of us lies choking in his own blood upon the ground.”

Is Lionheart all that remains of this? We hold fast to the belief that this is not the case. We hold fast to the belief that righteous British patriotic passions merely lay dormant at present, lulled to sleep by the lullaby of popular culture. Would that we could convince that culture to join Lionheart in crying, “Wake up! Look at what’s surrounding us.”

Which brings us back to Miss Rowling’s Harry Potter. We realize Miss Rowling has retired the series, but one last book/film combo may just be the ticket. Our recommended title:“Harry Potter and the Sword of the Caliphate.” With the full force of the Potter juggernaut behind it, this message would reach billions worldwide and might even stoke the passion for freedom yet smoldering in the hearts of Britons and liberty lovers around the globe. (Note to Miss Rowling: For a small portion of the proceeds, I am happy to offer my services in composing the original manuscript.)

Until such time (we advise not holding your breath), it remains for we bloggers to sound the warning bells.

“The battle takes many fronts now,” Lionheart explained. “We’re living in the 21st century. The computer, the Internet is a medium and it’s a forum to educate people to the truth that surrounds them.”

Let us continue to do so my fellow bloggers. And let us fight any and all ideologies and institutions that would silence our efforts to honor Sir Winston’s clarion call:

"We must never cease to proclaim in fearless tones the great principles of freedom and the rights of man which are the joint inheritance of the English-speaking world and which through Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, the Habeas Corpus, trial by jury, and the English common law find their most famous expression in the American Declaration of Independence.”

Cheers,

Charlie

What a wonderful passionate piece Churchill's Parrot! And what a just and noble cause!

If we did nothing but write about Lionheart and his persecution by his own government it would be time well spent.

That was indeed a terrific interview -- and I think an eye-opener to some -- and you do it justice with your thoughtful review.

Good job friend!

Incidently -- isn't about time for us to wish you Happy Birthday!
We're both Aquarius, you know.
No wonder we get along so well. lol

Best wishes,
Roger G.

This was an incredible post. Eloquent and frightening. Watching from afar the slow caving of Europe to the Islamic tide is a truly saddening experience, and Britain more so than any other nation. Has Churchill's legacy been so diminished? Have the British people forgotten what it means to have pride in their culture? The whole world is walking on tip toe, trying so hard to be politically correct while the radicals encroach further and further on our society, our people, and our culture. This is not racist. East Asians--the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans--have integrated into Western society peacefully and successfully. They don't attempt to bring such things as Sharia to our shores! Ah...I'm rambling now, but truly your article stirred me up. It's sad and terrifying. Islam is spreading like an infection--in Europe it grows peacefully stronger, but the violence lurks beneath it.

Thank you Mr. Gardner and Daily Elephant! We very much appreciate your kindly reviews.

Daily Elephant - many good points on your part, summed up best in your declaration, "This is not racist." Racism is the nuclear weapon the enemies of freedom employ to silence all in their way. We must not yield to their attempts to frighten and discredit us. We fight for the liberty of all creeds and colors, and fight we will!

Cheers,

Charlie
P.S. Mr. Gardner - yes 25 January is the big day. 108th. You?

I haven't visited this blog in a while. This is a wonderful post. Btw, my birthday was January 25th, too! Only I'm 33. Mine was good. How about yours, Charlie?

My Dear Denise,

How delightful to hear from you again! We are most pleased you found the Potter Post to your satisfaction.

My birthday was among the very best of the 108 I have now endured. However, knowing you and I share 25 January in common makes the date all the more glorious. Happiest of Birthday's to you (33? Good Lord you are a child my child!) and thank you for celebrating with me in this way!

Cheers,

Charlie

You're welcome, Charlie! And thanks for making me feel so young!

Now. Something else I want to say regarding this post. This whole situation here makes me very angry. And the more I think about it, the angrier I get. I would like a word with the British Ministry of Justice myself and if they don't like what I have to say they can just come over here to Georgia and get me. I dare them. I'll be waiting with bells on. Can you give me any info on how to contact them? Anything else I can do here in the States to help? Should I forward this info to every political figure I can think of from the White House down? Or do you think that would do any good? One other thing. I know it's the agenda of the BBC and The Guardian to come here and persuade us into thinking as they do. That's why they are here now and why The Guardian tried to influence Ohio's votes in 2004. And it backfired in their faces! Ha! Serves them right. That sort of thing won't fly with me nor will it fly with many other people I know.

My Dear Denise,

Tis infuriating is it not?

One thing you can do is to let Paul know you stand with him. Our friend Mr. Gardner over at Radarsite tells us Paul is now seeking asylum in the U.S. ( http://radarsite.blogspot.com/2008/01/update-on-lionheart-january-28-2008.html). This does little legally, but morally I would imagine, does him a world of good.

Next, write about it. If not via blog than letters to the editor, comment boxes at various UK "news" outlets:

As you have so graciously upon mine, leave comments on the other numerous blogs talking about this case:
*http://www.lionheartuk.blogspot.com/ (of course)
*Radarsite.blogspot.com
*http://godhelpbritain.blogspot.com/
and many others.

And last but perhaps most important, make yourself and others aware the threat to our freedoms - external and internal - this Islamic phenomenon is breeding. This is not racism, this is not religious-war, this is the same battle we have always been and shall always be in: the battle of liberty and human dignity against the forces of collectivism and slavery. Carry on my dear girl!

Cheers,

Charlie

2008?-No, it's 1938

It's been 70 years since British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain flew back to London from his meeting with Adolf Hitler in Munich and waved a piece of paper in his hand proclaiming, "Peace in our time." Of course, the following year, the world was plunged into World War II. Today, instead of Nazism, the world is faced with a new scourge, Islamo-Terrorism, Islamo-Fascism or whatever you want to call it. One would think that we had learned the lessons of history when it comes to appeasing the forces of evil. Yet, it seems that when it comes to Islamic terror, we have forgotten the lessons of the past. There are some notable parallels, in my view, between today and the 1930s.

After his failed 1923 Putsch, Hitler found himself incarcerated in Landsberg Prison near Munich in 1924, where he wrote Mein Kampf. In this book, he spelled out his hatred of Jews and plans to re-establish Germany's greatness through re-militarization and territorial expansion to the east. The world did not take him seriously. They thought he would never be able to attain that kind of power, even within Germany. They were wrong.

Islamic terrorists take their inspiration from passages in the Koran that they feel give them guidance in killing those who don't share their religion. Virtually every sura (chapter) reinforces the belief that non-believers will burn in Hell.

Once Hitler took power in Germany, after years of agitation and street brawls, he acted quickly to establish a dictatorship. On April 1, 1933, Nazis launched the boycott of Jewish businesses. In 1935, the so-called Nuremberg Laws were promulgated, codifying the second-class status of German Jews.

In 1936, German troops reoccupied the Rhineland-in violation of the Versailles Treaty. Great Britain and France took no action-further emboldening Hitler.

In 1938, Hitler marched into Austria, annexing that country into a greater German Reich. Great Britain and France stood by and watched.

Then, the same year, Hitler demanded the Sudentenland region of Czechoslovakia, based on the fact that it was primarily inhabited by ethnic Germans who were being mistreated. This brought Europe close to war. Within the space of a fortnight, Neville Chamberlain flew to Germany three times to meet and negotiate with Hitler. Chamberlain was determined to avert war over "a people of whom we know so little" to use his words. When the meeting was over, the Czechs were advised that the Sudetenland would have to handed over to Germany-or they would be on their own-previous commitments notwithstanding. Chamberlain flew home to announce "Peace in our time."

In November of 1938, the world watched in shock as the Nazis carried out Reichskristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass), by which Jewish shops, homes and synagogues were smashed, Jews were dragged to jail, and-in some cases murdered. Once again, the world stood by and did nothing.

It wasn't until Germany invaded Poland in 1939 that the scales dropped from the eyes of the British and French and war began. It was only then that the Brits and French realized that they could not negotiate with Hitler.

Meanwhile in the US, President Roosevelt, who understood the threat, was thwarted by public opinion that wanted no part of another European war. Famed aviator, Charles Lindbergh, was an ardent admirer of Hitler. He led the fight to keep America nuetral. Another prominent voice for nuetrality was Joseph Kennedy (father of JFK), even though he was the American ambassador to London. Then there was the Nazi-supporting German-American Bund, a 5th column German-American organization on our soil. It was only after Pearl Harbor, when the US declared war on Imperial Japan, and Hitler declared war on our country, that we entered the European war.

Today, we see similarities vis-a-vis Islamic terrorism. In spite of everything that has happened and continues to happen every day, there are many in the West who will not face reality. We have experienced 9-11. The British experienced the subway and bus bombings. Madrid experienced its train bombings. How did the Spaniards react? They voted out their government in favor of a new soft-line prime minister who pulled his troops out of Iraq.

The situation in Britain is most disturbing. Muslim clerics in mosques preach hate and violence against British society. Muslims demonstrate on London streets demanding that anyone who "insults" Islam be "butchered" or "beheaded". How does Britain react? They bend over backwards to toe the politically correct line. Just in the past few days, "The Three Little Pigs" has been suppressed because pigs are offensive to Muslims. Now acts of terror are officially being called "anti-Islamic acts" since they do damage to Islam's image. British jails have re-installed toilet seats to ensure that Muslim prisoners don't have to face their backsides toward Mecca.

Meanwhile in the Netherlands, they have witnessed the bloody murder of film producer Theo van Gogh on a Dutch street for the "crime" of making a film critical of Islam's treatment of women. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali immigrant and Muslim apostate, who collaborated in the film, has been living under intense security ever since. Currently, a Dutch politician, Geert Wilders, is trying to produce a 10-minute film critical of the Koran. Not surprisingly, he lives under threat of murder while Iran makes veiled threats against the Netherlands, trying to force them to prohibit the showing of the film.

In other major European cities like Paris, Rotterdam and Malmo, Sweden, police are afraid to enter Muslim enclaves, where practices like "honor-killings" and female circumcision are carried out though in contravention of national law.

Here at home in the US, where have we been so far spared the Muslim violence seen in Europe, we are witnessing a growing disaffection from American society on the part of many Muslims. On many universities (like mine-UC-Irvine), Muslim Student Unions regularly bring in radical Muslim speakers who advocate hate and violence toward Israel and "Zionist Jews". Many of these speakers also direct their vile hatred toward America as well. In some places, like Minneapolis, some Muslim cab drivers refuse to carry passengers who have alcohol. Some Muslim check-out clerks in grocery stores will not service customers purchasing pork. Not long ago, a group of radical Imams deliberately provoked airline passengers while boarding a flight, managing to get themselves removed from a flight so that they could start a lawsuit, aided by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). So how do we react to all this effrontery? The University of Michigan at Dearborn has installed foot baths in their restrooms-courtesy of the Michigan tax-payers. Secondary schools all over the nation have initiated courses for children to provide them with a positive image of Islam-while any recognition of Christianity or Judaism is considered unacceptable.

The problem is that both here and in Europe, we are being governed by political correctness. We must all proclaim that we respect Islam, and we consider Islam to be a religion of peace. It doesn't matter how much violence and expressions of hate are carried out by certain Muslims. When was the last time you heard a Democratic politician use the term, "Islamic Terror"? The reality is that most Americans, while trying to be fair and not punish decent, innocent Muslims, really are wondering about the true nature of this religion. Religion of peace? Well, we have doubts. We want to believe the best about other faiths, but how can we not have doubts given what is going on in the world, not just in the Middle East, but in Western countries where large numbers of Muslim immigrants have settled? This is not to paint all Muslims with the same brush, but some have not conducted themselves like ideal guests.

How great it would have been if the millions of decent Germans had risen up to overthrow Hitler and the Nazis. Tragically, they did not-or could not since the police state was too powerful. Similarly, how great it would be if the decent, peace-loving Muslims would rise up and defeat the murderers and hate-mongers among them. Whether they will remains to be seen.

My point is this: While we want to live peacefully with our Muslim neighbors, we must make it clear that we will defend ourselves against Islamic terror. We will not throw away our own religions, traditions, customs and laws because they are "offensive" to Muslims. There will be no Shariah law in our countries. We will not submit to them. Unfortunately, Western Civilization has been infected with a "peace in our time" mentality that says that, if we just make a few more concessions here and there, we can peacefully co-exist.

Neville Chamberlain would be proud.

Gary, you are absolutely right! What's really bad is that there are too many people in Western society who actually think these terrorists can be reasoned with, negotiated with, talked to. They're wrong! It is the aim of many Muslims to convert us to their beliefs by force or else. That's why they have migrated to our nations. They have no intention of assimilating. But it isn't politically correct for anyone to say it. And the governments of Europe are AFRAID! That's why they would rather arrest someone like Paul Ray for speaking what they are afraid to admit to the world themselves. Fear of some retaliation. And we will soon be on that same road here in the US if we vote in the wrong people who are also afraid. Even after 9/11, people still don't get it. Governments and voters alike. Don't they know that fighting back is much harder to do when it's too late than it is now while there's still some time? But I guess they are more worried about Britney Spears' hang-ups right now than standing up to people who want to kill us. I suppose that's just SO much more important than the safety of our people, our nation and the protection of our rights. :-(

My Dear Fousesqwuak,

We echo Lady Denise's sentiments.

Your re-creation of the heartbreaking events of 1938 and identification of their present day parallels is to be highly commended. Such historical analysis is essential if we are to prevail in the present as we have in the past. That the vast majority of modern minds are too full of tripe and sugar to appreciate such work is discouraging, but never defeating. You have done us all a great service. Indeed, such historical awarness has become the cause of my now 108 year long life. Carry on!

Cheers,

Charlie
